About this project

SOLD Mag will feature artists interviewing each other, studio visits, travel section, classifieds, photographer profiles and much more.  
SOLD Mag will be newspaper style, available at most NY galleries, museums in all 5 boroughs and business in Williamsburg, BK. 

The money raised will be used for printing the first issue and distribution.

We have partnered with a bunch of great NY artists who have contributed original art for our Kickstarter campaign. Check them out below, and please spread the word!   

Risks and challenges

All the art in the packages are already complete and ready to ship.

We are set to publish our first issue if we make the campaign or not. Though by making the campaign we are able to make it higher quality with more color pages.

Any extra funds will go towards further issues.

Write the book on tasty with these delicious recipes culled from the letters and interviews of some of literature's greatest writers

About this project

At the peak of his career Alexandre Dumas took a break from writing the best selling novels in Europe to do something quite scandalous: he wrote a cookbook. His Grand dictionaire de Cusine shocked many, not for how it cemented his status as a gourmand, nor for its culinary celebration of his Haitian heritage, for which he made no apologizes. Rather, it was the fact a writer of such renown did not consider it beneath him to stoop to such a simple endeavor.    

Luckily he did, and other writers have followed his example by giving their favorite recipes in person and in print. Taken from letters and interviews, these recipes give insight into the simple yet indulgent lives of these not-so-starving artists. 

Sylvia Plath's poems are that much more intimate when read with a piece of her Lemon cake. Elizabeth Bishop's brownies are as rich as Hemingway's wine-soaked hamburgers. People with this cookbook will know the pleasure of dipping Emily Dickinson's gingerbread cookies into violet ice cream ala Dumas. Others will lead lives full of hungry desperation, and HotPockets.

Give this book to the writer in your life, fuel them, get them to make some of it's recipes for you. Or at least one of it's cocktails. We're not saying drinking like Fitzgerald or eating like Dideon will make you a great writer, but it will make you full, and that's something. 

Emily Dickinson was a well-known baker in her day.

The book features several high-quality images of the original recipe, including this cake recipe by Emily Dickinson. The poem she wrote on the back in also included. 

Taken from out-of-print book and found hidden in archives, the book features long lost family recipes like Leo Tolstoy's Man n' Cheese, Joan Didion's Chicken Fajitas, and Ray Bradbury's infamous Pizza soup.

Getting everyone their copy of the book by Christmas might be tricky depending on where people live. We understand that holiday gifts have to get there one time. We are confident we get physical copies to people by December in almost all cases.

My name is Chris Piascik. I’m an independent illustrator living in Massachusetts, USA, and four years ago, I asked for your help publishing a book of my daily drawings. Four years later, I've got another 1000 dailies, and I'd like to ask your help making another book.

Last time, I told you a little bit about my process:

"I've been drawing something, anything, every Monday through Friday. December 21st marks my 1000th daily drawing. 1000th is a weird word, so that will be the last time I use it here.

Since around Daily Drawing 217 I started thinking about putting together a book featuring all of my Dailies. At the time, I told myself I needed so many more drawings. At around Daily Drawing 493 I decided 1000 would be the right number. As I approached Daily Drawing 900 I started sweating profusely and wondering what I'd gotten myself into. ALAS, THE DAY IS UPON US! (I say 'us' to make you all feel involved, but really the day is upon me.)"

When I started the daily drawings 8 years ago, I didn't have any type of project in mind. I just wanted to practice drawing, and the discipline of doing work everyday. It quite literally changed my career. It allowed me to leave one career (graphic design) and start another one (illustrator to the stars (strike out to the stars)). It also allowed me to stop working for a boss and set out on my own. Though now I have 3 tiny bosses, Biggie, Bluie, and Duke.

Over the last 1000 days, I've drawn a pear, along with an angry donut, and don't forget pizza (I don't just draw food). Like the first 1000 drawings, the second 1000 covers a wide range of topics, while also functioning as an illustrated memoir of my life. For that reason, I've chosen to come back to Kickstarter to get the help I need to self-publish this book. 

This is what I said last time about the project and it rings even more true today:

"I'm not ashamed to say I want your help self-publishing this book because I want full control over the final product. The Daily Drawing project has changed my life in several significant ways and I need to honor that by putting out the product I want to put out. (Don't worry editors, I'm totally willing to let you have the reins on future projects.)"

I'm hoping to raise $7,000, which is the minimum I need to cover the cost of binding and printing the 265 page, full-color book (in a minimum order of 250 copies). Over the next few months, I will be spending an incredible amount of time sorting my daily drawings into categories, laying out the book file, and preparing it for print. I hope to finish this project by February of 2016.

Risks and challenges

I don't expect any big obstacles as I've gone through this for my first book and learned a lot along the way. Production does have the possibility to be delayed a bit, but I can't imagine a scenario that would cause any major delays. I will do everything in my power to ship everything on time.

Eureka! The Art of Science

When I sometimes feel low and despair just drips over me like a depression having gotten hold of me... The best way i find myself getting rid of that is by spending some money. 

What better way of spending money than by helping someone out in something productive they are doing out there. 

So here is a small but surely better than nothing contribution i made for a project on #Kickstarter

So , My poetry for passion, oh !! Passion for poetry ... never ends COME WHAT MAY!!!

Now, I'm supportive of anything to do with poetry. And then, i came across this man here who's publishing his first book on poetry. I couldn't stop myself from helping him.
