Indie Romantic comedy - TEMPS

Grant Rosenmeyer & Lindsey Shaw star in an indie romantic comedy about a short-term thrill seeker dating a long-term goal planner.
Hello Kickstarterland! We are so excited to tell you about 'Temps', a little passion passion project we've been feverishly working on for the last year. Principal photography is wrapped but we are in need of some additional funds to cover a few extra days of shooting, our post production and festival fees.

THE STORY

follows Jefferson (Grant Rosenmeyer), a ski-bum temp worker, whose singular joy comes from an annual excursion to the slopes with fellow vagabond Curtis (Reid Ewing). But when Jefferson falls for Stephanie (Lindsey Shaw), an ambitious go-getter, he is forced to re-evaluate his priorities. Eden Sher plays Stephanie's best friend and Chris Bauer plays Jefferson's dad.
The script was written by Tim Bennett-Huxtable and it's a DAMN GOOD ONE. Honest, emotional, whip-smart and hilarious in equal measure, Temps subverts expectations and digs deeper than the traditional romantic comedy - a warts-and-all look at love, intimacy, commitment and what it really means to be a twenty-something in a relationship right now.

WHY DONATE?

What I love most about Kickstarter is not just the potential for fundraising, it's the idea of building a passionate group of supporters that work together to make a project possible. As a team, we've personally invested in dozens of Kickstarter projects and there is something indescribably satisfying in seeing a project come to fruition and knowing you had a small part in making that happen.
Our personal goal with this Kickstarter campaign is to allow the donors a real inside view of our filmmaking process and give insider access to all the filmmakers involved.
This is a unique project on Kickstarter in that principal photography has already been completed and the editing is underway. We just need funds to shoot a couple of extra scenes (the shots of Jefferson on a snow covered mountain promise to be SPECTACULAR!), finish post-production, and cover the costs of festival submissions to get this film out to the world so everyone can ACTUALLY SEE IT!
We're so close, we can almost taste it...

CAST

It is seriously crazy the caliber of actors who have joined us on our little adventure. These are all working actors, on some of TV's biggest shows I might add. They're not doing this film for the big bucks, they're doing it because they love acting, this story and the charters they portray really struck a nerve with them.
Grant was the first actor to sign on. He is probably best remembered as Ben Stiller’s tracksuit-clad son Ari in The Royal Tenenbaums, or as the star of FOX's Oliver Beene.Following a short hiatus to pursue a degree in Film at NYU, we feel very fortunate that we were able to snag him right as he returns to Hollywood to reignite his career.
Lindsey has amassed a huge fan base from her long resume of work. Currently, she plays the popular Paige McCullers on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars. She has also starred in ABC Family’s, 10 Things I Hate About You and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide and ABC's Suburgatory. Lindsey and Grant were friends prior to production, so he brought her in to do a chemistry read... and they were ridiculously good together!! I can't possibly imagine anyone else playing Stephanie.
Reid is best known as playing Dylan on Modern Family. I first collaborated with him on aModern Family music video called "In the Moonlight (Do Me)." It also happened that's where I first collaboration with "Temps'" Director of Photography Stephen Sheridan. When I read the script, I instantly thought of Reid for the role of Curtis, and once Grant and Lindsey officially signed on, I approached him. There probably isn't a nicer actor or one with a more unique approach to comedy. He's flat-out hilarious and an amazing presence on set!
Eden plays the beloved Sue Heck on ABC's The Middle, a role that she was just crowned by Entertainment Weekly as being one of "Television's 25 Greatest Characters on TV Right Now". I had worked with Eden very briefly on some promos years ago, but really she came to us through our casting directors, Jennifer K.M. Treadwell CSA and Monica Kelly.
Chris has over 70 credits but is perhaps best known for his work on HBO's True Blood orthe Wire. He is one of those amazing actors that just slips into a role and is one hundred percent believable. He was also attached through our casting directors.

 CREW

As for me, I'm an award-winning writer, producer, director, who splits time between big budget network promos and micro budget filmmaking.
My first feature, A Big Love Story, an indie romantic comedy about a guy trying to lose weight to find love, took home seven festival awards, including Newport Beach Film Festival’s “Breakout Filmmaker of the Year,” Beverly Hills Film Festival’s “Audience Choice – Best Feature” and the Manhattan Film Festival’s, “Best Comedy.” Variety called it “unpretentiously well turned” while Hollywood Reporter raved, “it brings fresh life to the overworked romantic comedy genre.”
Stephen Sheridan is a long-time collaborator of mine. We have shot dozens of promos together and he shot my last feature, A Big Love Story. If you're looking at my work, most likely, you're looking at his, too. He recently shot some 2nd unit work on David Fincher's new film, Gone Girl.
In addition to his personal talents, he also brings with him an incredibly experienced crew, including gaffer Chris Strong, who's gaffed such features as Se7en, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Oblivion, & Up in the Air.
Helping out on the producing side is Jason Duplissea, another long time collaborator of mine, although previously he has worked mainly as an actor. With this project, he has stepped up and used his experience from theater and music video productions to really take the reins of our own little production.
For post production, we have a great team, including John DeBorde, an award-winning composer with credits that include several major festival films and more than 600 promos for ABC, NBC and the WB.
Emmy nominated graphic designer Milan Erceg and Technicolor's world famous colorist,Sparkle, who has colored such films as Kill Bill 1 & 2, The Aviator, & The Good Shepherd, will ensure the quality look of our finished film.
We really are excited by this project and hope you join in with us for some fun. Check out the rewards on the side, if you don't see a reward you like and want to suggest something, let us know and we can add it...within reason (FYI marriage to Lindsey Shaw is not within reason).

Risks and challengesLearn about accountability on Kickstarter

The film being largely complete means a great deal of the risk has already been mitigated. We are too far along to turn back now. We are seeking funding to complete the project in a timely manner, but regardless of the funding outcome, this movie is a done deal, it's simply a matter of how long it will take.
