So what is Maha Yodha?
Maha Yodha is a two-player strategy card game set in the ancient and mystical world of Indian mythology. Maha Yodha is simple to learn yet has a lot of strategic depth, captivating new players and challenging seasoned gamers.
By unlocking these ancient Indian stories and unleashing these warriors of yore, we have created a strategic card game with an unique theme, that is both brand new and several millennia old.

A game of two factions: Asuras vs. Adityas

Maha Yodha comprises two decks, each of which represents a Faction. Each Faction consists of a unique army of Warriors, Weapons and Scrolls.
You will go head to head with your opponent, spending valour to dispatch Warriors to the front-line to not only deal damage but also defend your life. As in the ancient myths, each Warrior has a chosen Weapon, which when paired together award bonus powers. Divine Scrolls, inspired from interesting characters and stories from the Hindu myths will award you with powerful bonus skills, extra valour and deadly force to help you take down your opponent.

Folk art meets modern fantasy art

Maha Yodha features exquisite traditional Indian artwork - Pattachitra, as well as specially commissioned illustrations of celebrated Warriors and Weapons in a visceral modern style.

Who are we?

Chandan is the game designer and co-founder, developing and refining the Maha Yodha game model and overseeing the product development. A former management consultant in a Big 4 consulting firm, Maha Yodha is now his full-time passion and his opportunity to put his years of RPG, card and board-gaming experience to work.
Sagar is the secret weapon and project manager of Maha Yodha. During the day he works as a social enterprise consultant, but after dark he moonlights by helping Maha Yodha get to market and monitoring our finances and project timelines.
Finally, we have Sarada who is helping us with keeping track of our finances and providing management support to our Kickstarter campaign.
We also have an energetic team of friends and family helping us to dot the  i(s) and cross the t(s).

Why Kickstarter?

We've invested our savings into game design, prototype printing & creating sample artwork for the game. Most of the artwork for the base set is complete. With the funding goal achieved we will be able to complete the artwork and take the idea to production.
For us, Kickstarter isn’t just about the funds, but very much also about the community. We are hoping to make Maha Yodha a truly crowd-sourced game in terms of content and gameplay too.
Hindu mythology is a storehouse of hundreds of characters and stories. We will be honest. We do not know them all. If you have an interesting game idea, do tell.  If the community backs your idea, we will find a way to incorporate it in the KS edition or in later expansions.

Risks and challengesLearn about accountability on Kickstarter

Most of the artwork for the base set is complete. Our artists’ experience at taking illustrations and designs to publishing gives us confidence that we will be able to complete the artwork for the base set and all unlocked stretch goals within the projected timelines.
Another risk that we face in this process is taking Maha Yodha to production. We have tied up with a fabulous local outfit, Parksons CartaMundi (http://www.parksonsgames.com/) in Mumbai, India, to help us manufacture the game. This outfit is one of largest playing card manufacturers in the world and as it is also local, we will be able to oversee the production process and iron out any kinks quickly.
Our t-shirt vendor sources blanks from India's foremost Fairtrade cotton sourcer, Shop For Change (http://www.shopforchange.in/) that works directly with over 6000 small and marginal farmers in a sustainable manner (http://www.shopforchange.in/Aboutus_5.asp), so we're very confident that we will not have any issues in sourcing all the t-shirts required and that the t-shirts are ethically sourced.
Finally, all the original handmade Pattachitra artworks are produced by clusters of artisan families in a few villages in Odisha. These artisans have been producing Pattachitra through generations, using only natural colours and handmade cotton canvas. We have very good and close connections with these communities and we're confident that we will be able to source as many original artworks as required.
Our promised fulfilment dates were arrived at, after multiple rounds of discussions with the artists, publishers & logistics partner and we are confident that the game will ship to you by the promised date.
As we had mentioned earlier, we've enlisted the support and expertise of Saar Shai of The Agents fame, in not only polishing the gameplay and consulting on this campaign, but also in getting his support and advice when it comes to logistics and fulfilment.
The best mitigation tool in our experience as consultants and independent artists, is to keep communicating! So you can expect us to provide you with regular, detailed updates on what is happening at our end, warts and all!
